YI · Yi’s reflection perspective

Getting started with Lenormand

Yi includes all 36 Lenormand cards with stable identifiers, credited images and reflection prompts. Familiar images such as the Rider, Ship and House can help you notice everyday circumstances. Numbers identify cards; they are not scores or a ranking of better and worse cards.

Use cards for reflection, not prediction. Cards offer a starting point for reflection. Check the facts and make your own decisions.

Start with the 36 cards

Yi includes all 36 Lenormand cards with stable identifiers, credited images and reflection prompts. Familiar images such as the Rider, Ship and House can help you notice everyday circumstances. Numbers identify cards; they are not scores or a ranking of better and worse cards.

Separate seeing from associating

First name something actually visible in the image. Then read Yi’s modern reflection perspective and write a related experience. The Ship might bring a possible move to mind. That association does not establish that a move will happen: you still need to check timing, cost and practical conditions.

Try one card first

Choose one card, shuffle, optionally cut and turn it over. Stay with that image instead of repeatedly drawing until you like the result. Finish with “What do I already know, and what do I still need to ask?” You can also use the library without drawing any cards.

From an observation to a decision

  1. Question
  2. Observe (optional)
  3. Cast
  4. Interpret
  5. Decide
  6. Review

Choose an observation that matters to you and turn it into an open question. In Yi, start a cast yourself, study its classical sources, record your decision and return to review it. Cards provide context; they do not select a hexagram.
